Why Shoot A Recurve
- In order to keep kids interested in archery, we feel that teaching them with a recurve bow is the easiest way to keep them shooting.
- With the technology that the manufacturers of compound bows are using, it is hard to find a compound that is not a struggle for the kids to pull back without hurting themselves. Back in the old days, compounds were easier to pull. They had simple round wheels with a smooth roll-over. Now there are single cams, hatchet cams or egg shaped ones with 65% to 80% let-off which make it very difficult for the beginner to pull past the break-over point without it trying to jump out of their hands.
- A recurve is simple enough - one string, no set draw length, the only thing to be determined is how much weight they can handle. With groups or businesses, if you get several take-down bows, limbs are interchangable on the right and left handed Comets. If you have someone who can't handle 25#, put a lighter set of limbs on that riser. Later on they can increase the poundage with heavier limbs.
- Remember, archery is fun for the whole family - age isn't a factor. Even the parents will sometimes give it a try with the recurve that their child shoots and will become interested in shooting also.
- When we sold a bow in our retail shop, we preferred that the new archer continue to shoot and not give it up because the bow was too hard to pull or they couldn't hit anything with it.
Tired of all the high tech hype - enjoy archery again by shooting a recurve - it's fun for all ages
