There are many different arrow rests on the market, we include a basic stick-on rest with the bows. The easiest way to attach your arrow rest is to line up the hole in the arrow rest with the hole in the handle. Slide the rest around until it looks level. Tear off the backing and lightly attach the rest. Check it again and if it still looks level, press down. To make everything level, it's a good idea to put a nok set on the string. If you have a bow square, follow the directions on the package. If you do not have one, stick your arrow on the string and use the arrow nock to slide the nok set up and down until it appears level. Then crimp the nok set down.
Most archery shops have beginner lessons and some have more advanced instructions. It is a good idea to visit them as they usually have a good selection of equipment you will need. In adition to the obvious, arrows (spined right for your poundage bow and draw length), a bowstringer, an armguard (protection for your forearm), finger tab or glove, a quiver to carry your arrows in and possibly a sight to help you shoot accurately. Even if you only want to shoot at a target bale at your own home or in the local farmers field (with his knowledge and permission), this is a good way to start. You can, of course, go it alone and many do from reading books, watching video tapes or reading Tune for Tens at the end of this CD. There are also many excellent websites containing the basics right up to the very detailed instructions and invaluable help from experienced shooters. They are listed on the Archery Web Page.
Please note, we recommend you disassemble your bow after each use. For instructions, just reverse the instructions for stringing and then take the bow apart.

Determining the Dominant Eye
Just because you are right handed or left handed doesn’t mean that is the way you should shoot a bow. When tested, many right handed people suddenly find that they are left-eye dominant. That means the eye that transmits what you see to your brain is determined by the left eye. The same thing is true of left handed people who are right-eyed dominant.

To test for your eye dominance is actually quite easy and we have found that even a 3 year old can do it. Have the archer make a circle about the size of a silver dollar with their fingers and thumbs. Fig 1 With both eyes open, tell them to extend their arms out in front of them. Unconsciously they will move their hands over to the dominant eye Fig 2 and all you have to do is look at their hands. It’s simple. This will be the bow they will be most successful shooting.

extend arms out away from the face (not close up like this shows), but you get the idea.
